Job Summary:
The Environmental and Sustainability Manager shall ensure compliance with sustainability requirements throughout the MBS Stadium Project. His/her priorities include monitoring and ensuring the comprehensive sustainability ratings are achieved, leading to formal certification and/or approvals.
Responsibilities:
- The Environmental & Sustainability Manager shall enforce Client environmental policies on-site.
- Review and approval of Contractor’s planning, Sustainability Management and Implementation Plan (including Waste Management Plan).
- Review, approval, and monitoring of Contractor’s documentation relevant for sustainability compliance during construction.
- Monitor sustainability goals achieved in line with line with ASHRAE 189.1 standard, Saudi Building Code in force and related to construction phasing.
- Verify proposed materials against project sustainability requirements.
- Collect and verify all the Contractor’s documentation required to demonstrate the project’s sustainability requirements.
- Review and approve Contractor’s reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) related to the Contractor’s environmental conditions established via ESIA, CESMP, and NCEC permit conditions. Includes the verification of site monitoring data and interfaces with other key-based support sub-contractors (example: Waste Management).
- Undertake environmental inspections and submit a report for each Contractor (including the entire supply chain/ lower tier sub-contractors) at a minimum of once per week for each work package/ activity. The inspection will account for key requirements of the environmental scope as stipulated in the ESIA, CESMP, and NCEC permit conditions.
- Lead review and approval of all relevant Contractor environmental documentation including the comment, review and approval workflow processes on systems such as Aconex (or any mandated Client EDMS systems). Provide support for environmental document approvals related aspects of Contractor’s scope, including review of environmental management plans, sub-plans, and subcontractor documentation.
- Schedule and lead the project weekly Environmental Progress Meetings and provide feedback, and evidence in relation to environmental progress and issues. Attend all other project progress meetings and provide relative feedback and updates.
- Coordinate and participate in interface meetings with other project Consultants and Contractors as relevant to ensure compliance with Contractor’s scope.
- Responsible for ensuring that the Contractor adheres to all environmental compliance requirements related to emissions (water quality, air quality, light, noise, etc.), including monitoring of the Contractor’s instrumentation data to ensure compliance with regulatory limits, self-reporting requirements, spot checks and verification of sampling.
- Verification and Assessment of environmental surveys and investigations.
- Assistance in the verification, evaluation and quality assurance of all environmental related project wide surveys and investigation requirements (conducted by others on the project site). Includes supporting the assessment of documentation required for NCEC approvals, mobilization and demobilization to site, general support and guidance.
- Implement and incident investigation program as required; ensuring Contractor investigations comply with the project protocols for notification, investigation, establishment of SMART corrective actions and ensuring Contractor adherence to all required follow-up, close-out and verification monitoring. Support through identifying trends associated with environmental incidents and develop/ refine leading indicators for proactive environmental risk management.
- Provide support for regulatory (or Client delegated) visits as required. This may include collation of background information, field visit support and collation of follow-up information as required.
- Monitor, audit, and report performance against any construction stage elements of the Contractor’s Sustainability Management Plan, including any construction elements of the green building certification process. This will include any support necessary for external 3rd party sustainability certification audits.
- Support the project by ensuring all employees (Client, Consultant, and Contractor) on the project construction sites are adequately trained regarding sustainability awareness.
- Lead review and approval of all relevant Contractor sustainability documentation including the comment, review and approval workflow processes on systems such as Aconex. Take the lead on sustainability document approvals related aspects of Contractor’s scope, including review of Sustainability Management Plans, sub-plans, and sub-contractor documentation. Ensure alignment with the construction stage requirements of Qiddiya Sustainability Framework and Sustainability Certification schemes (i.e. LEED).
- Review and approval of Contractor’s reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) related to the Contractor’s sustainability requirements related to the Qiddiya Sustainability Framework and Sustainability Certification (i.e. LEED).
- Ensure all relevant data is captured by the contractors (including the entire supply chain/ lower tier subcontractors) in relation to Sustainability and Sustainability Certification – fuel usage, water usage, materials, waste segregation and waste management etc.
- Lead the review of the Contractor’s sustainability submittals, including but not limited to material proposals and approvals, ensuring compliance with the sustainable materials procurement requirements.
- Perform inspections and develop & submit a report for each Contractor (including the entire supply chain/ lower tier subcontractors) at a minimum of once per month. The inspection will account for key requirements for the construction stage/ contractor activities relating to sustainability under Qiddiya Sustainability Framework and Sustainability Certification (i.e. LEED).
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Architecture.
- 15+ years of experience in Building Construction Projects as a Construction Supervision Consultant (CSC).
- Experience in using EDMS Software, e.g. Aconex, etc.
- Well versed with MS Office Applications
- Good communication skills
- LEED Professional
- Knowledge of Sustainability Rating System & Certification
- Team Player
- Proficient in the English Language
- Must be SCE Certified (Professional or Consultant).
- Must have a Valid and Transferable Iqama (if non-Saudi).
